It’s almost Spring time, which means prom season is about to start. High schoolers all over the country are starting to think about what to wear to prom! How do you decide what to wear to one of the biggest events of your high school career? Well I’ve got some tips and tricks to help make your prom dress shopping easier!
#1 Decide how much you’d like to spend. Prom dresses can cost a pretty penny. They can run you anywhere from $50 to over $800. Decide what number you’re comfortable with and look at dresses that are less than that amount.
#2 Look at color! Whether you want to make a statement or want to keep it more subdued. The next step in your dress search is deciding your color or at least color range. Shades of red, Blue or green, black, white or purple! Whatever color you’re thinking, narrowing down your options will make it easier to find your dress.
#3 Find what silhouette you want to rock! If you’ve never worn a mermaid dress, or you tend to stick to tighter dresses, it's important to try some other shapes out and see what looks good! Once you decide what shapes you don’t like, you can eliminate those and look for just a few different shapes. However, keep an open mind! Try different silhouettes on and eliminate based on that, not necessarily based on what you think you’ll like.
#4 Decide if you want a sparkle monster or a simple, and less sparkly dress. Sometimes this decision comes from your personal preference and personality, sometimes it comes from trying different things and deciding what image you want to portray!
#5 HAVE FUN! No matter what style, color and budget you chose, remember to have fun! Dresses are supposed to be fun! Enjoy your time shopping as much as you plan to enjoy prom!
#6 Remember don’t overthink things! If you find a dress that you love that is in your budget, don’t let it go! At many places it might be the very last dress so snatch it up when you can!!
